Laurel mountain is the cheapest place that I know of that sells the Ford kit.

The last step, I bought this MAC diff cover for $100 on ebay and it was ceramic coated. It allows for about 1/2 quart more fluid and has a drain and fill plug, but the best features are the bearing cap supports. Ultra black rtv around the center section. Put the cover on and torque the 10 bolts down. Tighten the bear supports to 5 ftlbs and the jam nuts to 15 ftlbs. Let the RTV set up for an hour and then fill with 2 1/2 quarts of gear oil (synthetic is worth the money here since most people change the rear fluid very infrequently). Don't forget the friction modifier and the full plug.

I've had about 100-200 passes on a 4 clutch rebuild with no signs of one wheel peel yet.

i decieded on the carbon discs rebuild kit. Thanks for that tip too. The clutches in the 8.8 lasted one pass for me on drag radials with a decent 1.8 60' time. I hope these last longer!! I should get the 60 down to 1.6 if these hold up. Thanks again Mr. Ryans88gt

it's actually dr. but your welcome. I've been running 1.5 60 foot times with the standard rebuild, hopefully you'll have better luck in the future.

i dont know how old it was, but Im sure it wasnt fresh. I bought this car used and have had to tweak quite a few things so far, so Im assuming its at least a year old. if a fresh set can hold 1.5 times for DR. ryans 88 gt, the carbons will be overkill for me but ive had to drop the rear girdle 3 times now in 3 weeks and im getting sick of doing it. i hope this will be the last time this season at least.

well just soak the clutches in friction modifyer before ya install them and then break them in before ya go beating on it.

The carbons hold up pretty well for 500 hp cobras so you should be in good shape. Do make sure you soak the clutch discs before installation. I usually just soak them in gear oil though.

Do a few donuts in both directions. If you don't hear any pops and bangs you are good to go. If you do here some popping, drive the car around a little bit until it goes away (took me about 150 miles after this last rebuild because I shimmed it a little too tight).
