What are the specs on the cam? Usually folks choose a cam based on the stock 1.6 ratio...

TFS Track Heat stage 1 is good for stock engines with a performance close to Ford Racing E303 camshaft.. they have I/E durations of 221/225 @ .050" valve lifts, .499 / .510 lifts on I/E with 1.6 ration rockers, and LSA of 112 with intake centerline at 107 crank degrees.

With 1.7 RR you will get .530 / .542 lifts.. I don't know if the stock flat pistons have valve reliefs to accept this lift, but I personally doubt it.

I've run .600 lift successfully in the past with TFS heads and stock pistons BUT I've also had a stock engine that wouldn't clear an E303 cam. Valve to piston clearance always should be checked to be safe.......or you can play the lottery....

Different cams have different timings and it all depends on what degree of the crankshaft does valve-lifting take action, and also for how long... I think this is why a stock 5.0 piston with stock valves may accept a cam with .600" lift but not another one with .499"

I believe there has to be a theoritical way to know -from the cam card- if the PTVC would be OK or not, and the practical checks later will just confirm it.
