what might cause my speedometer not to work

what rear end does a stock mustang come with? its and 1989 5.0

8.8 inch with 3.08 gears.

Could have been 2:73 also. Mine was.

autos came with 3:08's. most manuals came with 2:73's and 3:08's were a option. you can look on the differential tag it will let you know the ratio and a code to whether or not it is trac-lok.

or 3.27 mine came with them stock

Where it says AX on the far right on the bottom it will say 1 of the following 3 letters. M,Z and E.

M=2.73:1
Z=3.08:1
E=3.27:1

My 89 HAD 2.73's, now 3.73.

cool, i have heard that some came with 3:27 but never actualy talked to actual owner. is this a manual or auto car?
