86 GT wont fire

My buddy tore the top part of the engine down to freshen it up, but after we got it all back together, it will not fire/start. It will turn over fine, but there is not firing. The distributor and all of the spark plugs are fine. The fuel pump is coming on. He did take the fuel rails off, so could that be the problem? I saw that the MAP sensor wasn't plugged in and thought I had found it, but it still won't start. We need help.

I would say tripple check all the wiring make sure the coil is getting power to start. Fuel rails shoudnt have anything to do with firing

Make sure the plug on the dizzy is in good and what he said above. Be sure your not 180 out or whatever. Check that your coil is still good and/or if you have an MSD box, check that it works as well

So you've checked at the plugs and are getting spark?.. If so I would check the fuel pressure too... but I'm leaning to an ignition problem.
