Won't fly at any of the tracks I go to, well, maybe this one hick 1/8 mile in PA, don't ever recall seeing a tech guy there. If it's just T&T it would most likely slide by most places. Not most sanctioned events.

+1, it is a really bad idea to ever start your car that way. What if you only think it is in nuetral? It'd suck to rear end the car in front of you or kill someone because you are too lazy to get in the car to start it.

If you really want to do it then yes, you just jump the wires. The reason there is 4 wires is usually because of cruise control.. not sure if these cars had them or not, but there is 2 seperate switches in there. One for the start that only closes when the clutch is fully depressed, and the other disengages the cruise if the clutch is even pushed in a little. Everyone is right, its a bad idea to bypass this unless you know what you are doing. I put remote starters in for a living and have done many manual cars with clutch bypasses, but there are built-in safety features so that you can't start the car in gear. Just doing the bypass can allow you to have a lapse in memory and start the car in gear.. never a good thing. Especially in a car with some torque.. if that car starts in first, watch out.

If you still have to, to do it you will need a test light to see what wire is constant ground and what wire goes to ground when the clutch is depressed all the way. You then connect these two wires together with the proper guage wire, meaning the same or larger guage than whats in there now. Be warned though, if you cross wires, you could end up having to bypass the circuit completely and run a wire out to the solenoid from the ign switch. I did that in a customers ranger once and fried the clutch circuit completely.

Anyone that is so lazy that they need to be able to reach in to start their car instead of getting in to push the clutch in should be driving an automatic car. I hope this guy never breeds.

Yes it is unsafe but vehicle manufacturers like toyota include a clutch start bypass button that i know for a fact doesn't have a neutral safety switch to prevent the vehicle from being started if it is not in neutral.

Holy fucking damnit!!! First, just start a new thread.

Secondly, as pointed out in this thread numerous times, it's careless and dumb. Just fix it the right way, and don't take the risk of hurting anyone.

X2 no racing for you. Very bad idea, you could end up racing a wheel chair for the rest of your life.
