Your buddy probably has an 87 TA right? An 87 GTA or TA with a 305 TPI will not beat a 5speed Stang. Even with the 350 TPI motor these cars will not beat a stock 302 5speed because the 5.7 ponticraps did not come with manual transmissions and are DOGS off the line!!! an 87 LX 5 speed would take any of these I believe. Check out an old Hot Rod mag of this era for true numbers though. Besides even if the F-body could win... It's still an F-body... Yuck

no way in hell an 87 TA will beat any 85 or 87-93 stang. i doubt it could even beat an 86...or a 94-up for that matter

i can't find any 0-60 or 1/4 mile times for an 87 TA. I kinda like the way they look.

I have eaten many with my car when it was stock.
Also the Monte SS for that matter, Also some of the Impalla SS's as well. That was when it was stock with a K&N panel filter to.

Yeah the the firebird would have had a 305 TBI...The 305 TPI is stronger...That is unless it has the 350 in it...Then it will be alittle bit more of a race...

I have been buildinf my buddies 94 Trans Am Formula for the last 3 months. I can honestly say that the LT1 is one badass motor. We're at 437 rwhp right now.Thats with it bieng bored .040 over, wild cam(Edelbrock said it was the beats we were looking for so i didn't question it!),45lb injectors,K&N intake,Edelbrock RPM intake,Hypertech tuning module,I still couldn't tell you what type the tranny is but as long as it ain't broke i dont fix it!. Headrers are on the way and since true duals aren't possible for this car we have hooker "Y" pipe on the way and custom 3.75 inch exhaust to finish it out. The last Dyno was before i put the K&N on and added the Hypertech program to it so im sure it's at least 45 or more ponies higher now. Like i said this car is a beast. I've ran with a few 02 and 03 Vettes and gave a hella run. The weakest link in this car is traction right now.Ladder bars are on the way but still need to get some wider tires(245's aint gettin it!). This thing has destroyed my 87 GT more times than i care to admit but once he finishes paying me for building his i can build mine then it's on!

Stock cars-no, not even close, unless the Mustang guy is sleeping. The LT1/4 is a different story, if his distributor is not broke.

Hyper tech and K&N adds 45 ponies??? You my friend have been watching to many comercials. LT1 isnt that the non roller beast? as far as I know an 87 F-body would not have an LT1. But anywho.... I think a built 455 in a corvair may give the 87 stang a run for its money too. But last I checked We were comparing stock to stock on 87 model trans ams and Stangs right?

maybe if you went to mobile 1, a hypertech chip, and a K & N you could get an extra 75 ponies?!! You know what I say "Why put on good heads when all you need is sythetic oil and a K & N for that extra 50 horses!"
