Short Belt Length

I am removing both my A/C and Smog Pump. I will be using the a/c eliminator kit from Ford Racing that relocates the power steering pump to where the a/c compressor was. I will also be using my stock pullies. What is the correct belt length that I need. I have seen the diagram that suggests a 70.5" belt for car with underdrive pullies, but what length will I need since I am using my stock pullies?

Tie a string around the pulleys as if a belt was going around it. Then mark the string, that will give you the correct length that your belt needs to be. Then take it up to the auto parts store.

it doesnt suggest a 70 for his car he was saying with ud pullies but i thought ud pullies were bigger making accesories spin less meaning less power taken from accesories

no UD pulleys are smaller than reg pulleys.
makes for quicker revs.

yea the underdrives are smaller, but I will be running the stock pullies... so i know that the 70.5" belt will be slightly short, I know it will be at least 71" but I want to get it right the first time... I'll have to measure it with a string though...

thanks everyone... by the measurement seen so far it looks like they vary a bit. It looks like i'll be best off to just measure it with a string. How do i know if the belt is too short otr long though, i want to do this right the first time

take the string in with you and hope you got close....otherwise take the belt back and swap it, thats what i did.....its good all you have to do is pull the tensioner...makes things like this easy.....just double check your pattern your running while measuring

if they are smaller then they will have a smaller circumference which means it will take a less length of belt to turn the accessory one turn therefore it will turn more turns with less belt

and if your wanting to do one of those setups then i would use/or at least try first the length that is listed......and youll know the length is right if the tensioner is in the operating range

I found that same belt diagram, but i found the origional; one and it said that it is for underdrive pullies (which are smaller) so I figure my belt needs to be at least 71" (since I will be running stock pullies)
