firing order

so i was changing my battery and adding some oil (i've got more leaks than a burlap sack) and i noticed the d-cap and how it was wired. it looked a little funny to me, even though at the time, i had no clue what the firing order was. i came inside and found it on MM. went back outside and shecked the current wiring on my car against the information i got here. the guy i bought it from had it wired 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. much different from the 1,3,7,2,6,5,4,8 that the diagram i got here said. it seems to idle a little better. but i always thought if the firing order was out of whack, it would run like balls.

is there any reason why it would be wired that way?

really? well, maybe i looked at it wrong the first time. but i know i had to move a few wires. i took them all off and put them back on in order to be sure it was right, so i'm not sure which ones were switched. anyway, it was effed up. there were no wired running from the opposite side of the cap to there respective plugs, if that makes sense. they were all on the same side as the plug the ran to. that's what initially made me kinda look twice at it.
