Borg Warner still makes the transmissions. The Tremecs were in some Cobras. Tremec is an entirely different company. Borg Warner is still alive and kickin' in Chicago. I go by there every other day.

i realize tremec is a different company. But as in almost every modern day situation different companies are contracted out to build parts for any given situation. What i meant was that in the fox mustangs i.e. the 87 coupe that i had used a borg warner t-5. Because at this time borg warner was the company contracted by ford to supply them with the trannies. My 96gt for example has a t-45 tremec. That does not make it a performance tranny, it only means that tremec was the supplier for the t-45 trannies at this time. I don't know everything about fords trannies but this little info i do know. Not to step on anyone's toes. But just like any smart company if ford can pay less for a part to be supplied from another company they will. It's just logical.

So for the original question at hand yes ford does use other companies to supply different components to their vehicles.

Pardon my mistake. I thought you were implying that Tremec took over Borg Warner. I misinterpreted what you said. I apologize.
