i've heard mixed reviews of the BBK. get a cobra, gt40, or explorer. those intakes are the best compliments for a stock setup, and actually do very well up to about 400hp. or you could have TMoss port your stock intake (or port it yourself). check out his site: http://www.tmossporting.com/

With stock heads and a stock cam...an aftermarket intake wont give you much hp. You'd be better off to spend that money on another mod like gears.

true, gears would be a better place to start, but the stock intake BION is even more restrictive than the stock heads are. a ported or aftermarket intake should be worth about 10-15hp. other good first mods would be an electric fan, underdrive pulleys, and exhaust. it is possible to get about 250rwhp with the stock heads and cam.

IMHO, don't waste your $$ on the CAI. headers would be a good idea at this point.

if you're gonna have to pass emissions, long tubes probably won't. also, i wouldn't bother with the hassle of installing equal lengths, a couple of horses difference but they're such a PITA to put on compared to shorties.

true, but if you plan on making this car the best car possible, go long tubes. But like TENGRAM said, do you have to pass emissions in your area?

Explorer heads and intake from a salvage yard. Bolt on 35-40 horsepower.

headers

long tubes are only worth puttin on if you have extensive mods and a K-member because it is not worth the installation hassle if you have a stock bottom end and no K-Member...

On a 79-93 Mustang? There is no hassle at all with basic configuration headers. If you get into the different flange types and big tubes (1 7/8" and bigger) then you will need an aftermarket K-member. Long tube headers scavenge better than shorties. Stock or modified engine, long tubes will help and give you room to grow.

BBK headers look nice and fit nice. There are bungs in the headers for the oxygen sensors. Ford make 3 different harness lengths on the oxygen sensors. Depending on what is on your car now, you might have to get a new sensor or both to get the connectors to reach.
