88 GT Running Pig Rich

Ok i just aquired a nice 88gt. Car runs great as long as your in gear giving it gas. Its got quite a bit of power but when the car is idling it stumbles real bad and pours black smoke out the exhaust. If you gas it just right(about half throttle) let off and gas it again real fast it will pop back through the intake, but not all the time just sometimes. i got a little anxious with it today and stomped her to about 6k let off let it come back down to about 4k and stomped it again and it made a really big cloud off black smoke and backfired like crazy. Heres is what i have tried. coolant temp sensor, MAP sensor, IAC(car does surge idle as well), TPS, new plugs, new fuel pump, filter and Fuel pressure regulator. Now the more i drove it the worse it got and installing the new Fuel pump today just totally made it worse, now the car doesnt even wont to idle on its own. Only thing that i can think that is left would be hung open injectors. i can start the car run it for say a minute and turn it off wait about a minute and open the schrader valve and there wont be much pressure, so this tells me that fuel is leaking down somewhere and i bet its the injectors? Car did sit for roughly 8 months!!!

O i have tried a different ecm. car just pours black smoke like a bad CTS would but its not that!
Forgot to mention i installed 2 new 02 sensors as well, timing doesnt seem to help the problem either by turning the dizzy!

first off welcome to the site...

try to run some seafoam through it...
spray carb cleaner directly into the throttle body while its running/revving it.
the injctors could be bad too

havent tried seafoam, have tried carb cleaner though. Im gonna try running just a little bit of water in the TB tomorrow and if that doesnt help any then i have a donor fuel rail and injector setup.

thats proly your best bet is the injectors and fuel rail.

dont buy cheap gas that will cause carbon buildup and black smoke and nasty valves i am sure u already know that

running rich in speed density cars is most often one of three things - a vacuum leak ion the line to the MAP or a bad MAP, a fuel pressure regulator with a split/failed pressure diaphragm, or leaky injectors. Many times it's a vacuum leak in the vacuum line to the MAP when it won't idle.

like previously stated i have tried a new MAP sensor and i checked the vacuum running to the map and its fine. Ive got a donor fuel rail and injectors last night so they are going on first thing this morning. will let you guys know the outcome!

so say this was a mass air car what would be causing it?

take the MAP off the list and add a BAP but check it too.

you should check the tps for the right voltage also see if the idle screw is set right all so get a fuel pressure guage on the fuel line and see where you are at with the pressure

ok i seem to have gotten somewhere but now i cant get rid of the surging idle and its still throwing codes 42 and 92. I set base timing to 11 degrees. IAC motor seems to be working properly when i drop the car down in gear it idles down a bit but picks back up. I have tried doing the idle relearn procedure on the car also. I cannot find any vacuum leaks of any sort anywhere!!!, also when you first fire the car up warm or cold doesnt matter it will pop through the exhaust pretty bad. i checked compression today and every cylinder was 160 psi.
