I have a buddy who wants to take the auto out of his 5.0 LX and put a t5 from a 4-banger in...we were wondering if the driveshafts where the same on the 2?

i am having a problem with that the input shaft is longet on the 4 cylender and thinner pilot bearing shaft. i have not found out which pilot bearing is needed so i am just going to sell it to someone else. but if u could find thr right pilot bearing and shave the tip of the input shaft down it should work fine. if u dont it will put a heavy preload on the bearing and cause failure.

u cannot use a shaft from a 5.0 t-5 cause the 5.0 input shaft (4th gear) is a 23 tooth and the 2.3 is a 19 or 20 tooth.

yeah that just sounds like a bad idea. those t-5 s out of the 4 bangers weren't built like the ones out of the 5.0. just sounds like something would break.

True. The t-5 for the 4 banger is too weak, plus the gears are a lot different. Google history of t-5, good info.
