kinked fuel line?
my friend was replacing his fuel filter on his 82 5.0 and in the process he twisted the fuel line a little. Can this cause the car to run rough (i.e. backfire) if so what should he do? replace the only option? Thanks!!!!

Cut out the twisted part and replace it with some braided 5/16" hose and hose ends.

Should he cut or saw it? Also, should it be disconnected when he does it so their is no fuel or will it be safe either way? Thanks for the help!

release the fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. then disconnect the fuel line at the filter and drain whatever fuel comes out. Don't use a cut off wheel or you could start a fire. Use a small pipe cutter. If you can't get a pipe cutter around the line where it is kinked use a very fine hand saw made for cutting pipe. Depending on what type of fittings you can find, you could just use a flare tool and replace the kinked part with a union fitting. Personally, while you are messing with it, I would just replace the whole line with -6 AN braided line. You can get 15 feet from summit for $50 and it will push right over the stock fittings if you cut the nylon tube.

Where's the schrader valve? This is a carbed model by the way.

just use a small pipe cutter and splice in some new steel line. you can get steel line from advance and 2 compression fittings. it should work just fine...

I have braided line, so will that work if I just cut the steel pipe, and put the braided line in?
