Body molding

My rear moldings are warped and they are half off of the car. Is their a way to flatten them out? I was thinking about removing them and putting some reinforcements like thin steel or something like that? Any ideas? It's an 86 and the pieces are hard to find. Thanks.

If you are in AZ they are probably warped from the heat. They should already have a metal strip behind them.

Mustangsunlimited.com has a molding that will fit there, but it doesn't say GT in it. Am I being too picky? Now that I know where to find it, I can look for a replacement in a junk yard. It's Az, I should be able to find something! Thanks for the site (bookmarked) 78Mach1. The search continues.

Ummmmm, good luck finding ANYTHING for an 86 Mustang in AZ junkyards. I looked for parts for my 84 GT for years. If theres a mustang worth parting out, or keeping here in AZ.... people will jump on it like its gold.

You could probably get those 3:73s cheap and swap out your 4:30 monsters as well.

EASY FIX lay them out on your driveway on a hot sunny day and they will flatten right out and 3m tape them back on after they are cooled, works every time

fakesaleen, i thought about that, but it seemed too easy of a fix! DANG IT! I couldn't think of a way to heat them up safely. Also, I wasn't sure if the material was maleable enough to heat up on a hot day. I guess over 20 years they were So why not now? Oh well. I am excited to get them, they will make a BIG difference. Right now I have rear flippers instead of molding. I may experiment with them and let you know what i find out.
