5.0 need a tune after head and intake install?

I'm getting a set of windsor jr heads this weekend and will also get either a cobra or typhoon upper and lower intakes to go with it. What do you guys think, will this need a tune after install with a 95 gt? And yes, i know about the typhoon intakes and i am going to port it.
Also, anyone have any idea how much power that and a homade cold air intake would make to the wheels? Has flowmaster catback and headers (stock h pipe for now)
Last, does anyone have any suggestions about this combo? I don't have much money to spend now, but this summer i am going to do more to the car. I was thinking 3.73 gears cause it is a daily driver and maybe a tweecer for tuning. Then later on i would get a custom cam and build it up from there.
Thanks in advance!

if i was you i would get those heads and intake on there and see how it runs. you can make maybe 3-5 rwhp from a cold air intake and 3.73's you need to do ASAP

yah, 3.73s will come this summer. that may be the last mod i do for this year because my dad restricts how much i can spend on my car each year and the gears are going to be around 400 dollars installed around here.

are you installing the heads and intake? because I would think that it would take a pretty big chunk out of your alotted budget for purchase and install.

Do you have a dial indicator? And a bearing puller?

the guy im buying the heads from was going to help me install if i need it but im getting a really good deal on them and they are in my budget. too good of deal to pass up, especially if he has the cobra intake too (if not i'm getting a typhoon from someone else and will port it myself).
and no i don't have a dial indicator or bearing puller. i believe my local auto store lets u borrow each though. i think a gear install would be too hard for me to do myself.

u can tune it with a adjustable fuel pressure regulator and adjusting ur timing. i would get a PMS series 3 or 4 from anderson ford motorsports and tune with that.

Gears aren't something for a novice. I wouldn't reccommend it unless you have someone with you who has done them before. Check Ryans sticky at the top of the 5.0 forum about rebuilding the trac lok, he gives a great step by step on installing the gears.

ok, i guess i'll just get an afpr for now and the gears i'll probably have installed. I think there is a place near here that will do them for 250 if u supply the gears and stuff. i thought u needed to take the axles out and everything with a gear swap, btw.???

I would def take it to a pro for the gears unless you like doing things twice.

yes, and you CAN do it yourself, do some research and understand how to set the backlash for the ring. how the depth of the pinion effects how your ring gets backlash and how to set the crush sleave and bearing prelod. if you have a dial indicator you CAN do it. if you dont then go get one. i got mine for 7 bucks. as long as you have a decent head on your shoulders and dont get intimidated and do some research it will be just fine. heres a good link to get you started, and dont listen to the guy when he says he spent a grand doing this thats b/s
