this is a t-5 question for e3sean and anyone else who might know!

ok so as most of you know (and if you didnt know shut up) that i have a mustang II, my build that im doing is going to involve a t-5. because a mustang II has some clearence issues in the transmission tunnel, i need to use the bell housing from my origanal 4 speed (the bell housing is thinner but longer) so that i can use the headers i have, and because of that reason, i need to use a t-5 out of a 94-95 because they have the slightly longer outputshaft. then have a custom pilot bushing made, and also have the thrush bearing sleeve plate milled .010 to fit snug in the II bell housing.

and i was wondering if only the output shaft was longer? is the rest of the t-5 normal? i have found a t-5 that is no good, but its out of a 91.

so basically my question is could i use that trans, and then get a kit (tremec or another good after market kit) that is made for a 94-95? (this assuming it comes with a output shaft from a 94-95, and if the kit doesnt have a output shaft, could i get the shaft from one of those years?

if u know that u can bolt a t-5 up to that bell housing all u will need is the input shaft for a 94/95 but u have to make sure its the same tooth count on the shaft which is 4th gear so yes u can get the transmission and i might have an input shaft for you if it is the same tooth count but even if its not i know where u can get a new one for around 70

I forgot to tell u that it was the input shaft is what u were thinking of the input shaft is what rides in the pilot bearing and what the clutch disk sits on behind that is the main shaft sometimes called the tail shaft then under that the counter shaft also known as the cluster gear.

haha i knew i would get input from you!

well bolting the t-5 up to my bell housing is the popular thing to do, i know that when using that input shaft from a 94-95 the input shaft is only riding about 3/16th`s of an inch inside the pilot bushing, so i will have to have one made that is a tiny bit longer.

so i need to find a trans, then get the tooth count?......and go from there (looking for a 94-95 input shaft with the same count?)

ok and as far as kits, what would you recommend?

ohh ya sorry i was a little tired last night. input-output, whats the difference lol

ok so im trying to do this as low dollar as possible but not have a peice of junk when im done

so my buddy has a blown t-5 out of a 305 camaro, i was wondering if i could use this this case, and get a 94-95 input shaft, and then build the internals cause i know that they werent world class ones, so basically could i use this transmission

no you cant use a comaro t-5 it is proly a non world class t-5 and will do u no good.

just get a mustang t-5 and put a 95-95 input shaft on it.

is there any way u can use the other bell housing? is it a matter of differnt headers?

well the tunnel on my car (mustang II) is narrow so with a t-5 bell in it, i have absolutley no room for my headers, but by using the RAD 4 bell housing, and just milling the thrush bearing sleeve flang. i can easilly clear my headers and any other header i plan on using in the future (thats a popular thing to do with my car)

i havent been able to find a t-5 that is reasonably priced, and not a total peice.

well any rebuilt t5 is gonna cost anywhere from $550 (which is what i sell them for) up to 900 and some people want a core too... if you want one from me it will be around 700 after packing and shipping unless u wanna take a trip down to az but it will cost u more in gas then anything else.

do you just use oem kits?

yes i can put the 94/95 inputshaft on it. no bell housing though sorry.

it would be a rebuilt t-5 yes all the parts are oem.
i can put a steel bearing retainer and a billit steel thrust plate on it for you for $100 then it will hold a good amount of power over stock the 100 just covers parts i dont charge to put it on cause i dont have to do anything special when i put it on.

ok so you would build a world class t-5 with a 94-95 input shaft, and a steel bearing retainer, along with a stell thrust plate for $800 after shipping?

well the car its going in curently is sitting on jack stands with the driveline out, im planning rear disc conversion as well as a better set of gears, freshin up some bushings and a few other things. and most of the interior is out, its getting ready to be painted soon

i will just need to see how soon i could pay you if i decided to go that route
