Intake?

i wrote yesterday about my 88 backfiring and was told by a couple of people to check the timing so i did today and it did not fix it. my mechanic told me that he thinks it's in the intake and thats what's causing it to backfire. you think he's right or do you have anyother suggestions.

If you have a vacuum leak at the intake it could cause a back fire but just saying its "in the intake" is a pretty vague statement.

the mechanic said that he's going to pull the plugs and spray air down there to try to find out. that's all he told me. and for horseman check out the subject Back Fire from the 20th and my mods are on there.

with the engine running spray some carb cleaner around the intake area an listen for a change in idle. If you can hear a change in the way the car is idleing then u have a vac leak at the intake or possibly a hose. Check all vac lines in and around intake and go from there. good luck
