Port and Polishing Stock Heads


im on a limited budget and i have a friend who works at a machine shop and is willing to to my heads for free, all i need is the specifications for the heads so he can do this for me, if anyone could help it would be appreciated.

Does he know how to port E7 heads and make them flow or does he just work at a machine shop? I wouldn't let him get too carried away if he hasn't successfully ported (and flowed) E7s before.

welcome to the site though! I agree with Darrell. Make sure the guy knows what he is doing when messing with this stuff. it isn't something you want to do poorly because then you will have to spend money with getting new heads.

well im not exactly sure if hes done E7 heads but he has done work to his own cars and they have ran properly, what i need is the spec so he can put them into the computer and let the machine do the work

A CNC machine? A CNC machine needs a program which is developed from actually porting a set of heads.

you can do it yourself. get a roto-zip, 4" shank length carbide bit , cartrige rolls, and cross buffs. All of these can be bought at Standard Abrasives. Grind down the air humps (exhaust) pushrod pinch points (intake), and open up all short side radius, (the inside of all bends). Leave the floors of the ports alone and knife edge the valve guides. finally gasket match it. then sand smooth, then the crossbuffs will really smooth it . Dont expect too much of a gain, mabe 210-225 cfm maxx!!!
