Air Conditioning

The previous owner of my 1988 mustang gt Removed the air conditioning compressor completely (its located at the bottom left of the engine bay if looking at it from straight on) So the summer is coming and i dont have cold air. The previous owner plugged up lines it looks like, totally ghetto rigged which im not very impressed with. I will take pictures of What it looks like for further advice, but who has the best air conditioning compressor for the money that will deliver nice and cold air? Thanks people!

i may be wrong, but looking straight on at the engine bay, the bottom left would be your smog pump, no?

no, you're right. smog is bottom left as you look at it from the front of the car.

That would mean that i dont have a smog pump. What is a smog pump? This is not cool that means i have an ac compressor but no smog pump and yet i dont have AC. Jesus lord

smog pump
it pumps air into the exhaust to help the cats burn off more of the pollutants and clean up your emmissions. something like that.

if you don't have to pass emmissions tests, you don't need it. they say removing the smog pump will cause your cats to clog faster though. can't comment on that. i've got the smog delete, but i have an O/R midpipe. (sitting in the back, waiting to be installed)

a/c
maybe it needs a charge....

I dont know how much they are but they should be the lines for your freon if I am not mistaken....and you need to make sure the condenser is still there and who knows what it will take to get it going I would take it to somebody who knows a/c there is probably a reason that they were taken off .... I doubt he would pull the freon lines off a a/c that was working well....especially since that wont help you in anyway cause he still has the belt running to the compressor ..... as you can see from the drawing above some people run a shorter belt to bypass the a/c.... I just dont turn my a/c on when racing when its off it puts very little draw on the motor cause it has a clutch
