Piston problem
I started putting a set of heads on my car and discovered a series of nasty marks, dents and craters on the surface of #3. I ground them smooth and lightly sanded over them. I think they were the culprit of a random part throttle pre ignition problem I have been having. When I'm done I'll head to the dyno and post resullts.

They also could have been the result of the problem you were having.

EGR?? If it isn't functioning, but the computer thinks it is, the computer bumps the timing during EGR function (part throttle) and it will cause pinging if the EGR isn't actually working. you can buy a little plug on ebay that tricks the computer into thinking the EGR is non-functional.

The delete plate and the thing ryans88gt is talking about are 2 different things. The little plug that he's talking about plugs into the connector for the EGR.

I realize that. I believe the thing ryans is talking about is the EGR simulator, I have no simulator, the trouble code is present so the system runs with the EGR function off due to no signal.

But then your CEL is on all the time, so you could have any number of other sensors going bonkers and you would never know. It was only like $20 for the simulator.
Dremmel fly cut pistons?? I got my finger crossed for you, I hope you get that preignition problem fingered out.
