Check out Maximum Motorsports and Griggs Racing, they both make quality suspensions from what I've seen and read. Plus on the Griggs site there is a sweet vid of his '96 Cobra haulin' ass up a mountain road.

I have used a lot of different setups but lately I have liked the UPR stuff. They have some great deals and I have never had any problems with em.

I do not have full out drag cars but we have several in the 9's 1/4 mile and the suspension works great.

He is correct. Now that's a budget build that has been proven.

If ya wanna go even cheaper take your factory uppers and lowers off and box them in. I was cutting 1.38 short times with factory boxed in control arms and they worked great. That particular car had 4 cyl. shocks on the front and rear also. Very little aftermarket parts were on it.

wow thats pretty cool, its not too expensive then to get a little better than stock suspension for drag racing... I was about to post a similar thread, but should I have 4 cyl springs only on the front?

Yeah they work. I prefer running stock V-8 rear springs with 1-1 1/2 rings cut off simply for stance and style.

I love my UPR rear suspension kit I purchased. No complaints at all with it. I've got 4 cyl springs in the rear and coil overs in the front with 90/10 and 50/50's. The front end bounced badly when launching and all the way down the track unloading the rear tires several times. I'll be going with a better strut that's adjustable soon. Still managed a 6.6 @ 106 having to let out the throttle once to recover...just got out of the groove.

This may not sound too good to but it has been proven on several of our cars... Have you thought about putting the factory V-8 springs back in the rear? You can cut a coil if ya need to (for appearance). We had to do that to my daughters car (ran a 6.41) and the wife's car (ran a 6.55) both @ FFW last year. It worked way better than I thought it would with the UPR complete front end. These 2 cars were thrown together pretty much for bracket and grudge racing so the rears are all factory suspension.

Just an idea but it is cheap and it worked!

Here is Austin (age 15) with factory rear suspension, 4 cylinder shocks and factory V-8 springs with 1 ring cut. You can tell by the twist how factory it really is but it works. We have since added a Anti Roll bar to keep it flat and straight along with a lil giggle juice.

Bugman I still have my stock rear springs. But the car sagged badly on the original springs. I changed them but don't plan on keep them very long cuz I'm going to move the shocks inwards and have coil overs hopefully soon. I wouldn've tried it couple weeks ago when I installed the rear suspension but I didn't think about trying it.

The sway bar is gonna kill your cornering but it is only a few bolts so you can easily remove it just for straight passes.

I remember doing this kind of budget building. Its not the most ideal, or the best.. obviously we know that. But, it works.. and it works damn good!

No where near as bad as the sway bar will but the 4 cyl. springs will let it lean just a tad bit more.

Do you have the option of upgrading the front to a coil over kit? Then you can adjust your ride height, etc.

i've got 4 cyl springs all around ( it was a 4 cyl car originally ) i have 3 inch skinnies and 275 50 15 drag radials in the back and i drive my car all the time, of course you can't take a 90 degree bend at 50 mph but i have enough sense to drive accordingly and i've never had any problems .
