I am considering this because of that. It really isnt another power adder because all you are doing is cooling the air down when it reaches the combustion stage.

Also. How many miles are on the blcok? Was it modded at all. I know someone right now runnig 9.80's on a stock block with a 76mm turbo. Its a 306 so there is still plenty of block there. I would consider one thing. Your block may be worn down and if it is then you are taking a worn out block and seriously reducing the walls in the block to go with a 347. Go with a 331 if you want to do that.
What the Hell are you talking about "YOU ARE SERIOUSLY REDUCING THE WALLS GOING WITH A 347?? A 306,331.AND 347 ALL UTILIZE THE SAME BORE.

AND NITROUS IS NOT ANOTHER POWERADDER?

AND AS FOR YOUR FRIEND HE HAS A TICKING TIME BOMB.

Use a 351w block, your way better off. Hell if you have the money buy a siamese bore 351w block from ford racing, then you'll be set!!

peicing a kit together would be more efficient with a s/c, for ex, a custom blower cam instead of the one that comes with the TF kit would be best. when you use a regular cam the valve overlap is going to be fighting the s/c in a way. get a blower cam, you get the lift/duration and whatnot but not nearly as much valve overlap so you can maintain whatever psi you use...

P.S. +1 with the 351w block, wayy more reliable and easier to make power, plus basicaly a bolt in swap... minus some small stuff

nitrous and blowers work well together. Nitrous provides the low end grunt and the blower provides the top end charge. I gained 80 ft/lbs of torque at 2500 rpms from a 50 shot of N2O on top of the blower. That resulted in a torque curve that was over 400 ft/lbs from 2500 rpms to redline with a peak of 497 ft/lbs. Not bad for a little 302.

Although a factory block may last for a long time at 500 hp or above, there are no guarantees at that hp level.

Also you are compressing air so fast that it hats up at the supercharger so the intercooler becomes useless at that point. An aftercooler would be an idea though. I mean would be pretty efficient as well.
Maybe it would be a good idea if you stop posting. Actually, it would be a good idea. Stop talking.

A small shot will make a blower so much more efficient that it's not even funny. There are virtually no reasons not to run N2O with a blower other than engine life if you don't build it right.

I can think of one other reason. A nitrous backfire will take out your head unit. But using a plate kit with a small shot you have a pretty low chance of a nitrous backfire.

It is really a matter of can the block/pistons/headgaskets take it.

If you are serious about dumping all of this money into the power adders, why not protect your investment and purchase a block that will handle the stress rather that throwing up a "Hail Mary" and praying that your block is up to it? Put your money into a good foundation first, then build the house.

Hm... If your only wanting 500 rwhp then just build a 306 and throw an S trim on it. With a fair build (heads, etc.) you will hit 500 and if tuned properly it will hold fine.

I have several stock 302's all over 500 rwhp. For example my 94 Gt has a stock 302 block (306), Edelbrock heads (out of the box), main stud girdle and a few other minor mods with a junky old school Powerdyne (got it cheeeep) and it puts 459 to the rear tires. I have put 20,000 miles on this car in the past 2 years and it runs like any other DD on the road but with an awesome passing gear.

Now don't get me wrong I like N.O.S. just fine and use it on several of my cars but with the blower I just left it simple. If anything I may add a 50-75 shot to it just for some quick get up and go.

Good luck on your build.

if you are going to buy a block, h/c/i and stroker why not go with a 351 ???? you can stroke it to over 400 cubes just as easily as you can build a 347 , plus with the right h/c and intake you can make 500 hp WITHOUT a supercharger or nitrous and not worry about splitting your block , and it will be cheaper then your supercharged 347 build

Agreed!

However a S/C 302 would be much more streetable than any N/A with 500 rwhp. JMO.

you can always build a very mild stroked 351 and supercharge that and it'll be very streetable, i was just trying to point out that if you are starting from scratch and have to buy everything it would be wiser to start with a 351 as opposed to a 302, now if you already have a bunch of hi po 302 parts ( intake , supercharger, long tubes and such ) then a 347 would be cheaper

I have roughly the same thing. 302, GT40x heads, old school Vortech and between 450 and 500 RW.

I've pretty much made my decision I'm going to buy a Super Pro Bullet 347 +6cc Twisted Wedge$3199.95
from dssracing.com
Get twisted wedge heads, nice size cam, and go carbed with NOS.
You guys think this will be a good setup. I just don't really want a 351, because I'm going to keep it street. Every once in awhile take it to the strip.
