wire harness question for the smart one
If i get a 88 wire harness along with the computer, will it work on my 89? My concern is that the 88 didn't have mass air and mine does. Thanks

if you get it out of an 88 you need it out of a california emissions car to have the maf shit already in it

im just waiting on the harness, and ill be set after that. I've spent the last week tearing everything out and cleaning it. Looks good tho surprisingly i think it will look better when im done than before the fire

it would run like complete shit, in order for the 88 harness to work right with no maf you would have to switch to speed density and that would be just dumb

Yeah you have to get one from an 89 car....no other year will go in. 90-93's are a few differant harnesses. 87-88 are speed density.
Good luck. i sold my old 89's harness with speed...they are rather sought after since they just plug and play in 87-88 cars.

wait to hear from someone whos actually done the maf conversion with the 88 harness, i know sean did it, it still might make sense to keep that harness since you already got it

I did it but it was in an 88 car. I bought a mass air harness from Interactive Technologies and spliced it in. There were a few other connections that had to be spliced as well like the speed sensor and a few pins had to be moved in the harness. Doing it that way might cause alot of headaches in an 89 or newer car because some things are wired differently on 87 and 88 cars.
