How much oil is the 5.0 suppose to take?
When i changed my oil i didn't get a reading on the dipstick till 5.5 quarts of oil + 1 quart of lucas oil additive that really super thick stuff %100 petroleum i think
the dipstick reads a little high is this normal?

with the stock oil pan it is 5 quarts plus .5 for the filter to be at the full mark if you have 6.5 quarts in your not realy gonna hurt anything unless your crank is submerged in the oil then it will cause cavitation and the oil will not be as effective and it will also kill the horsepower. Or so i have been told

I would say 6.5 quarts is about a full quart too much. It will hurt HP a little and could cause other problems, like you PCV sucking oil into the intake.

i'm carbed btw not sure if i have pcv?
but i didnt tighten the oil plug enough so it drained a good bit of oil but yea guess i got to much in ![]() at the time i did not realize 32 ounces was 1 quart i thought it was a lot less than that thats why after i added lucas i went and added another quart and ahalf of oil

what are you talking about this is a legit thread explain yourself? and i might need a new seal for that bolt if it still drips so when would be the best time to change that quickly when the car is ice cold????

+1, just changed mine last night. I wouldnt put more than 5 quarts with the stock oil pan.

you don't NEED oil either...but the benefits are undeniable. There is a lot of debate over oil additives and I think that 99% are trash, but I'll tell you this much. I haven't changed the oil in my lawn mover for almost 10 years. I just top it off with lucas at the beginning of each year, still runs perfect with no smoke.
