I was wondering how much power would a clogged catilatic converter take away. for a 5.0 ho?

WOW! alot! it puts your motor under serious strain as well. best bet, either hollow them out or get new ones. or get rid of them :-)

It depends on how clogged it is. In theory, you could be down to 4cly because the cats are before the H portion but I doubt it would get that bad. If you know it is clogged, you can take off the cat back and continously jam a broom handle in there to break up the material and start it up to shoot it out. Since you'll have the cat back off, take off the mufflers as well and shake them to make sure there are no pieces already in there either.
My old H pipe had a melted/clogged cat and besides the noise from the pieces rattling around, I may not have not noticed. One of my other cars with single exhaust had a clogged cat and it really sucked. It was like I was always driving up a steep hill, it would never go into OD, and my MPG went down to about half.
