Having a custom grind cam has nothing to do with whether or not aftermarket heads are bing used. Off the shelf cams are very generalized and are made to fit a wide variety of applications which 90% of the time will not be the same as your application. A custom ground cam is made to fit your application.

Should make in the area of 340 at the wheels with those heads. I'd pick a different cam though. Any reason why you orded Victor Jr. heads?

Well, I think you did a good thing getting the aluminum heads. You listed all your parts. Do you already have these, or are you just planning on them? If you have them, just use what you have for now except getting a different cam. It's easier to not have to swap cams later. The intake will work, but a higher flowing one such as a Trick Flow R etc. will be better.
The only problem with using what you have if you do already have all this stuff is the tune. All that money will be spent on a tune for this combo, and if you switch cam/intake later the tune will not be optimal. Also, I don't think the forged crank is needed if you haven't already gotten it. That's money you could use for the cam and or intake. So either.. 1. If you have all these parts just use them for now with a different cam. 2. save a little more money and get the cam and intake and save by only tuning once.

I myself may do a 347 budget build in the next couple years.
I have an e303 cam, eddy performer heads with some porting and 2.02" valves, performer rpm intake and 670 street avenger carb. The carb makes it cheaper for me. No expensive tuning. This is going on a used 5.0l for the time being. When I do the stroker I will get a budget kit since I'm not looking for huge power and it will handle that. Oh and a better cam. It all depends on budget you know. And your goals. Try to buy once and look for deals on good used stuff. Also, be realistic with crank, rods, pistons for the power range you are going for. Extra expenses you don't need add up Quickly! Nice looking car by the way

yeah but compression ratio is a major thing you have to factor in if your building a motor. if your going F/I with your set up youll want a lower compression, but if your going for an NA set up your going to want higher compression.
if you have a high compression motor with a blower, bad things will happen to that motor, unless a miracle happens and too low of a c/r on a NA motor and its going to be a dog. you cant just throw out a bunch of parts at a motor and expect a fire breather, it takes lots of time and planning to match parts |
