Do you need the strut tower brace?

Don't you need it? I've seen pics of 5.0's without it, probably because of there intake. I've seen that they make high rise ones if you have a cowl hood, why don't those guys run them?

Last summer i noticed that my FRPP strut brace was snapped broken on the firewall end. Took it off, and welded another plate there to reinforce it. Few weeks ago i took it off again, and the firewall had cracked where the brace attached. Do you think theres body flex? The need of a brace depends how you drive, no need for one if only going straight.

Body flex in foxes is rediculous, youll find a million foxes with bent torque boxes and warped bodies, get subframes and front and rear tower braces...youll definately notice the rigidity

If you road race or autocross I would say the strut tower brace is mandatory. There is so much deflection in the strut towers on these cars its pathetic.

I took mine off of my 94 to make room for my intake and didn't notice any difference, although I don't drive my car all that hard typically

94 and newer Mustangs are built alot stiffer than earlier Mustangs so that probably makes a difference as well.

ya I can't really say for sure, I have a buddy that has a 88 fox and he installed a strut tower brace and sub frame connectors at the same time

He said the difference was night and day

yeah i found a few companies that make them steeda and hans racecraft make a somewhat simple one and che makes a beefier one

Steeda Rear Shock Tower Brace - '79-'04 Ford Mustang

Hans Racecraft - Ford Mustang Rear Shock Tower Brace

79-98 Fox Body & SN95 Parts » 79-98 Chassis & Suspension Bracing » CHE Performance » Adjustable Rear Shock Tower Brace

for those who are looking for one...

No.

No No No No.

To have a rear strut tower brace you'd have to have rear struts, meaning IRS.

Yes, there are some bars you can buy that link the upper rear shock mounts. You know what they do? Make your car weigh more and lighten your wallet. There's no flex that you're going to prevent tying the shocks together.

To whomever said that removing the front strut tower brace caused their front tires to break loose more often; I highly doubt it. Front brace stiffens the front suspension, which means LESS grip. Which means that removing it will shift the bias of the car AWAY from understeer, as you INCREASE the grip of the front tires.

it wouldnt really lighten your wallet and add weight to your car if you could mig or tig weld yourself an aluminum rear bar. but thats if you had the resourses to make one

wow for what those hans and steeda braces look like, all you would need is a welder a cutting wheel and a bracket from home depot and a peice of steel and about an hour of time lol.

i dont have any suspension except eibach springs (solid motor mounts too but i dont know if that helps) and i dont feal much body roll when i take a corner

it goes inside the vehicle across the back? or under above the rear end?

in the back it connects the shock towers at the top. so above the rear end.

and body flex doesn't necessarily mean body roll.

body flex causes the suspension geometry to change on its own
