running hot

I have a 306, stock heads, 10:1 comp. 466. lift cam, Cobra intake, full exhaust. I put a 195 thermostat in with teh stock belt driven fan. I drove the car for two weeks last year like this. If I remember correctly It sat right in the middle of teh guage I think that is about 200 degrees. Well I just got my car driving again and I put a proform Electric fan in and now it runs between the o and the r on normal and sometimes a little higher.

I searched for the answer and It seems that people say to run a 180 degree therm. I would like to get some responses to my actual situation. It seems that proform fan sucks I quess I need a taurus or mark fan. Which one should I get and should i buy it new or go to a junk yard. I appreciate the help.

Thanks

Jon

If you have a 195 degree thermostat, its going to run around 195 degrees......

"runs between the o and the r on normal" is a pretty wide open statement that really means nothing as far as temperature wise. It could be 180 degrees or it could be 225 degrees depending on how accurate your gauge is. The only way to know for sure is to check it with an accurate gauge.

u might want to check to see that the fan is blowing cool air from outside through the radiator and not sucking the hot air from inside the motor and heating the radiator i pulled that one b4

I looked up that teh stock 195 fully opens at 221 just where it sits about. That is where the stock motors sat. Mine is modified so will be harder to cool. Oh and does that air dam/deflector do anything that sits under teh front bumper? It just seems that there is no good size opening on teh front of the bumper?
