Replacing Front Control arm bushings advice

I want to upgrade my rubber units that are wore out on my 83 convertible with the Steeda Offset urethane bushings.

Anyone done these and do you need a press to put them in or can you do it with a vice, hammer your self? Have replaced the springs struts etc., this is the only thing I am unsure of to tackle.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

I never done any on a mustang..but I have on chevelles..I burn them out with a torch, put new bushings in freezer over nite then pound them in with a hammer....I think auto motive machine shops will install them too.you can use propane torch, but do it outside....some use air chisel....

Thanks, getting them out shouldn't be a problems as I was going to doas you suggested to burn them out, never thought about the freezer trick, will remember that.

I just don't want to distort or damage the bushing, are they pretty tough and can take abit of pounding?

Thanks

Please tell me how you are going to burn the metal sleeve out of the front control arm? mine were a pita to get out after i burned the old rubber bushing out.

btw i replaced mine with prothane motion controls poly bushings

you are not going to distort or mess up any polyurethane bushing with a hammer.

Were you able to just hammer them?
