AOD to T-5 tranny saw, worth it?

so my tranny in my 92 gt is starting slip (which sucks) and i was telling a kid at my work about it and he told me he has a parts car that has a good t-5 sitting in it and if i wanted to tack it i could have it for free aas long as i took it out... so im thinking hell yeah ill just swap my aod for he free t-5.. would this be a hard swap, and also i heard since i have a 4:10 raerend im gunna be spinnin way to much for a manual. Think i should do it? and if so how easy would it be?

i am about to have 4.10's behind my t-5 the swap isnt "hard" its just time consuming
its pretty stright forward

what u need from his car:
t-5
pedel assymboly
clutch cable
flywheel
(get a new clutch)
transmission crossmember
not sure on the driveshaft???

traction will be more of an issue now but once u do get it u will know it..

im definatly goin to a t-5 swap this winter too. its a good thing fox bodys are set up the same for both auto and standard. i think the speedo cable in an automatic runs through the hole where the clutch cable goes

the aod can be a real good transmission, and there are quite a few cars that run the aod and run in the low 9's. automatic trannys are great for drag racing but i really love shifting gears so im swappin to a t5 this winter

83fox I couldn't agree with you more. But in this situation the stock aod sucks. Have it built and stalled then it's a differn't story.
