1/4 mile gear difference

i have a quick question, does anyone know how many seconds/tenths you lose when you switch from stock 2.73's or whatever they are, to 4.30's?
i have 4.30's right now and im just wondering how much of an improvement they make, i know they make a big difference im just wondering exactly how much. and yes, i like the 4.30's even for the street.

what were you running before, what rpm were you crossing at, what engine modifications?

somewhere between 0.1 seconds and 1 second based on the information you provided.

lol at that

But with just a n/a like bolt on 5.0 you could see up to a .5 difference.

Way more than that. I had a cousin with a 1992 LX with 2.73's and he went to 3.73's and he got .6. All he had was bolt ons (shorty headers not long tubes) and I beleive Drag radials. But he purposely Did not change anything about his setup just to see what kind of improvement he would see. Honestly if you have the right combo of tires and bolt ons you could see up to .7 -.8 IMO with good tires!

373 and 430s are night and day diff..430s without major mods are redundant..and foolish more spin and faster to lose ya power range..373s are great gears with nice bolt ons..if you have 4.30s and no major mods ya motor will wind out faster...to many books and videos outthere to not have a good build first time out,,go to a book store there you will LEARN ... i have seen a full sec shaved from just cats cut out and dot slicks in a camaro...no diff with any car..273 to 373 will shave a good time off..

I was going to say is it just me who thinks he is crazy? Bolt ons with 4.30's would make you wind out faster than just 4.30's how stupid can you possibly be?

i was just wondering, ive never taken my car to the track because i just bought it.

it has a mild cam, long tube headers, catted h pipe, rear control arms, air bags in the coil springs, 255's in the back, short throw shifter, and a better breathing air filter.
its an 88 lx coupe.

i was just arguing with my friend about whether or not its a 13 second car.

i think it would be a mid to high 13 second car and he thinks its a 14 second car, and i was just wondering how many tenths the gears alone shave off, because i knew it should be a considerable amount.
