351W and a C6 into a Fox?
My buddy and I are converting his 5.0 5spd inot a 351 W with a C6 trans. My question is will the motor mounts have to be changed, and were can I get a drive shaft to pair the C6 to the 8.8. And the motor is a short block, so intake and head advice would be nice as well. thanks in advance!

the 351w will use the same motor mounts. the only different things he will need is an oil pan, headers. Also intake manifold, distributer and oil pump are different on a 351w....
as far as the C6 goes I've never heard of that being done..... Why would you? If you want a drag transmission build up a C4 and put a ratchet shifter in it. If you want a more streetable tranny use a tremec 5 or 6 speed.....

The C-6 is a little bigger physically than a C-4, you may run into some clearance issues, especially when it comes to headers. I don't know for certain about the drive shaft. I think the front yoke is the same but the length may be different. Any good drive shaft shop can fix that problem.

A 351 with a C6 will be slower than a 302 with a T5.
C6 is a junk tranny, don't bother with it. Sell it on ebay and buy a C4 or even an AOD.

Its his car, and he found this combo "deal" so I dno, I personally would have stuck with building the 5.0 block up, ill let him know that the tranny is garbage for his application though

a c6 is good tranny,if built is stronger then most built c4s, but robs more hp then a c4,i think a shorty header is req when a c6 is used with its larger bell area..id get a c4 if ya wanta auto or get c6 built up along with good upgrades on the 351w,also if a 351w is mounted in a fox usually ya need a cowl hood for taller 351w..unless you use a drop engine mount like a solid kind or so..but 351w droped in place of a 302 is pretty simple drop in

A stock C-6 is stronger than a stock C-4. The C-6 is heavier, larger and has an intigrated bellhousing. It will be a tight fit but it will go in. A sledge hammer helps with firewall and tunnel clearance. I would try to trade the C-6 off for a C-4 instead.

you cant run long tubes with a c6 like said above it will hit, it is a tight enough fit with a 302. i would loose the block get a 302 and put them heads on with a diff head bolt arp sells run a 5spd and it could be done cheap

A C6 is heavy and sucks up about 100 hp. As far as strong, no not really any better than a C4.

If that was the case, Ford would have just used the C-4 behind the 460 truck motor instead of the C-4

towing and drag racing are very different... *yawn*
and because ford did something, doesn't mean it is logical...for example the mustang II king cobra.

yeah, I guess that was a bad assumption on my part. With a 351w and C6, they are probably going to use the mustang as a tow rig.

I can see how you could make that kind of mistake.

I'd pull all of my finger nails and toe nails out with a pliers before I'd use a C6 in a performance application. Not only is it heavy and consumes a ton of power but it also will require tunnel modifications to get it to fit.

yes it is going to be a drag car, and i did convince him to get rid of the c6 for a c4, we still need heads, intake, and a drive shaft
