opinions

So I bought a 1991 GT a little while ago..

dds 306 kit, forged internals, novi2000@6-8psi and a bunch of bolt ons.. as well as an anderson pms..

.. has a stock cooling system though.
what do you think about future mods pertaining to the cooling system?
any preference?
Here is my short list:
a fluidyne 2 or 3 core
MkViii fan
eddy W/p
180 Mr. Gasket T-stat.

let me know what you think... suggestions are always good.

There are alot of good aluminum radiators out there. Fluidyne, Griffin, BeCool, etc. Most aluminum radiators are single row and that is all you need because they transfer heat so good being aluminum. The stock water pump is good. I wouldn't waste money on anything else unless you want to put an electric pump on it. The stock cooling system is pretty good. An electric fan will make it better. I'd wait until you start seeing the temp climb. If it runs cool, stick the money somewhere else.

that's the issue. the temp does climb. which is why the car is sitting right now.

I was also thinking if I got the electric fan I would also pick up a 130 amp alternator.
maybe convert to an lx front end..

Do a cooling system upgrade then. No need to convert to an LX front end. Just make sure the deflector flap is still attached to the bottom of the radiator support. If its not it will cause over heating issues while on the road no matter what you have for a cooling system.

Do you know where a deflector flap can be found? My car does not have one.

I believe I've seen rubber ones at 50resto, you could rivot on a piece of aluminum down there as well but obviously it would not be as flexible. I think the rivots would break before the core support would bent if you hit something.

Yeah, I'd say get the deflector if it's not there a good electric fan. If that doesn't fix it, get a radiator. Radiators aren't cheap.
