electric is a good choice because a belt driven fan is a drag and power robber. If you choose a flex fan, get a good brand, the generics from pep boys and all are notorious for coming apart

How are the gains for the electric fan? i have one on my other fox and am swapping it over in a few weeks, just wondering. I have heard mixed reviews but i think i will put it on no matter how little the gains are, but i have heard 20 HP, is that true?

thanks for those of you who posted. it's providing helpful insight on what i should look for...
i'm in the market to get rid of my belt driven fan for an electric fan.
my stock fan is showing it's age with the usual cracks.

An electric fan is a good idea but I wouldn't put a different belt driven fan on. The stock fan works great.

the problem with the flex fans is if u dont have a shroud around it your not pulling the air through the radiator your just moving air around the engine bay. i have a 3.8l tauras fan and i will put it aganst any aftermarket fan on the market. if there is a fan that outperforms this one then i gauerentee that is cost at least ten times as much as i paid (or anyone will pay) for my fan. 26.00 at the junkyard..

I've used probably 50 (no exageration) Flex-a-lite Black Magic fans and have never had a failure. Sounds like your friends might have bad luck.....or I have good luck.
