R.I.P motor need advice

Ok so it finaly happend my stock 182,000 mile stock motor finally went. 20+ bottles of nitrous later lol. So here's my delima. I just bought 220 cc trickflow heads and I'm gunna by a short block from woody but for now I wana get my stock one running again. Well my problem is this my piston blew a chunk out the side and the intire top ring just got chewed up and i guess spit out cause i cant find it lol. Well it scored about a little gouge at the very top of the cylinder where only the top ring impacts it and it's for about a quater of an inch. My question is on a tiny gouge if i just put in the new rotating assembly and rings and I all ready honed the cylinders will it run ok at least for a few months while i save up? Plus I scored some 351 iron dart windsor heads and a b cam that I can use for free for two or three months till i have the new motor done. I just hope it will run ok What do you guys think.

i dont want to bore this motor. I got a stock rotating assembly and new bearings for free so all i'm gunna be out is rings and a gasket kit. I just want it to run for a few months till I order the the long block the new intake manifold put my heads on it etc etc. I just wonder if that little gouge will hurt the ring that touches it for like a quater of an inch

As long as the gouge is not exactly parallel with the top ring, you'll be OK.

sweet. You know I'm not sure what the heads are exactly they came of my buddies 302 all i know is the ports are huge compared to my e7's and they have some pretty big valves. But i'm not worried about ptv cause I'm using his old rotating assembly, his old b cam and his lifters and his old heads lol. They say windsor on the top. I'll take pics when i get home of the heads and the cylinders. Oh the heads are iron. He says there dart 351 windsor heads. They look sick. Oh and i got earson cam 1.6 roller rockers from him. Are those any good? I think i'm just gunna put it together and see how it runs.

so like i said above the number 8 piston was the broken one, there was a huge chunk missing out of the side and the entire top ring was missing. what are you guys guesses on where the ring is and what caused it lol. I think the ring chunked up and went through the valve and i hadn't sprayed nitrous in like 4 weeks before it blew up. I was just crusing down the freeway. It doesnt look like the motor ever went lean. The valves and carbon plugs everything showed perfect color. Pics tomorrow.

If they say windsor on the top of them then more than likely they are 351 windsor heads that have been worked.

There is no such thing as a dart windsor head
