A/C worth keeping?

alright so my new 88 has all the ac stuff still. usually im all for a fast car that stil has ac but this one isnt completely clean and i dont even plan on making it a show car, just make it a fun track car.

i figure i might as well take it out cause its R12 and i could have it converted or even just recharge the R12 but i figure why not just rip it out

what do you think?

It depends; do you mind the heat? That should answer all of your questions .

Not really but if you're a hard core drag guy then why not? He says his isn't really working, so it's really a matter if he wants it or not.

Free up a little power, less weight, nothing to crazy though. If your only going from your house to the strip i dont see why you should keep it.

rip it out, and do like i did use a cut off wheel and cut that excess bracket off. or buy an ac delete which moves the PS pump in in place of the AC area. Which I personally dont like.

rollin down the windows is the only A/C anyone needs. gettin out of your car on a hot day after having the A/C cranked sucks IMO.

you might want to keep the heat if you plan to drive the car at night. if its chilly, your windows will fog up and with no heat, youre SOL.

Im in the process of doing this as well. Without the A/C, belt driven water pump, and smog pump. What size belt would I need?

just take some string and route it through your pully system like you would your belt and cut it so end A touches end B. then bring it to napa or wherever you get your belts and get the one that matches the closest
