braking problem

i finally got my car running today after a month of workin on it anyways it revs real nice everything seems to be good except for my brakes. I took it for a test drive and it braked fine the first time i put the foot on the pedal, but once i let up and went to brake again it was as hard as a rock couldnt brake at all. Wait a minute and i could brake again but only once then hard again. Anyone know what might be the problem? thanks fellas. Ill put some pics up of the motor tommorow when its light out again.

My Mustangs sit unused for long periods. Typically I clean off the pads and rotors with emery cloth or a wire brush and brake cleaner and even with that, it takes a few days before the brakes are back to normal. The time it takes driving around depends on if the rotors just have surface rust or if they are worse and have some pitting. I think with only a month, you should have only surface rust. You could have moisture in your lines or a leaking wheel cylinder or caliper piston.

I'd have to say vaccum line as well. If its still in the booster, you might not have any vaccum at all.

In this picture the part is still in the booster. The vacuum line just isnt hooked to it.

U guys were right! it was lack of vacuum! the line from the intake manifold was kinked going to the vacuum manifold= used all the vacuum and took about 15 seconds to charge again till i could brake. All better now though and better than before Im happy!

Hey guys im having the same problem. I checked the vacuum lines like you said and they are all fine. Does this mean the booster is bad?

if you hear a hiss(air escaping) when you press the brake its most likely the booster.
