I don't see how your engine builder can say "the compression is between 11:1 and 12:1". Didn't he take measurements and calculate the compression? If I put an engine together and told the customer that I'm not sure what the compression is but it should be between 11:1 and 12:1, that would be the last time that customer would come to see me. I guarantee it.

My previous post is all facts. Below I qouted myself in case you didn't see the previous post. I have a bit of experience in this field....

12:1 on 91 octane, you'll be having problems.

Like I said in my previous posts.........

Whatever guy, I guess you know something that others don't. Why don't you share with us how to make 12:1 compression work on pump gas. Do you even know what the 12:1 means? You can think what you want but the fact is no 12:1 engine runs on pump gas.

It might run OK with aluminum heads and 20 degrees of total timing, but why bother?

No, you my friend think you know it all. I've forgotten more about internal combustion engines than you know. That is proven by your posts. I was simply trying to share some facts with you to try and help you but I'm starting to realize that you are one of those guys that has to find things out yourself......the hard way. Go ahead, run a 12:1 engine on pump gas and see what happens. No cheating either, run a full timing curve (32 to 36 degrees total timing). And yes I've gone 9.36 at 143mph with my 3016 pound naturally aspirated summer daily driver. It even had power windows, locks and a booming stereo. I think I know a thing or two about natural aspiration....

You said multiple times that 12:1 will run on pump gas. Now you are contradicting yourself? Sure you could run a 12:1 engine on pump gas if you ran your total timing around 20 degrees or so like Ryan said but that would defeat the purpose of running such high compression because retarding the timing that far would lose all that power that the higher compression would gain you.

Is that a challenge? Which car would you like me to bring? I'll be in Las Vegas the week of August 3rd.

Not on the black car.

This car was on a 300 hp blast of the sauce. Please forgive the shitty video. I couldn't figure out how to get it off a mini dvd to my computer. I'm kind of dumb like that...

If you're here to ask questions then you must be here to learn, so listen to people when they tell you something. If you don't believe them, do a little research on the internet, or go to a few other forums and ask about running 12:1 on pump gas, you'll get the same answers you've gotten here, everywhere you ask. Someone has been feeding you misinformation.
