General directions...

Get a compression tester (auto parts store for about $40 or they may lend you one for free). Warm up the engine. Shut off the engine and remove the ignition coil wire and take all the spark plugs out. Screw in the compression tester to one hole at a time. Crank the engine with the starter for about 10 revolutions. Read the pressure gauge, remove the compression tester. Repeat 7 more times for the other cylinders. Depending on how your readings look, you may have to go back and do further tests on some cylinders.

Yes, that would help, you want to make sure you can actually get air into the cylinder.

aslong as they are all around 5 lbs or so of each other you should be ok..depending on milage...if one reads 135 and the next one to it reads 120 chances are you have a leaky or blown gasket between those..
