car problems

hey guys, i have a 1988 lx 5.0. iam having some big problems with it now. it is my d.d. for a few months then it will be my project car. but i bought it from my friend about a month ago and have had nothing but problems with the thing. my first was that it sat at his house for a year so i replaced the starter, soleniod, all the battery cables. but while it was sitting the computer had gotten wet and the car wouldnt idle and when you were coming to a stop it would just stall out completely and it seemed like just a computer problem cause my buddy said the computer had gotten wet. so i bought a new computer and it still runs like that, it wont idle at all so im wondering what the hell is wrong with this thing i can barely drive it. now my second problem: i installed my tach yesterdy, and now the car wont run lol, i spliced all the wires through the fuse block and the green wire to the negative side of the coil. now when i go to start the car and it just shuts off right when it starts running. i did splice the green wire from the tach into the negative side of the coil wire so i thought tht was the prolbem so i cut the splice out and butt connected the negative coil wire together again and it still wont run. someone please help me with this damn car lol

You need to inspect the MAF sensor.
Look inside. They make MAF cleaner spray.

It should run worse with MAF unplugged.

The IAC motor is on the side of the throttle body and controls idle
at zero throttle. They get old dirty and stuck.

You need to check the TPS voltage. Do google search.
Tons of threads on how to do it.

I'd check the balancer. Bad balancer can cause all kinds of weird problems
