Crank pulley


My crank pulley is not lined up with the rest of the pullies it is recessed 7/8 of an inch farther back than the water pump pulley What can cause this"?

Are you saying I should use thrust bearings behind the pulley on the bolts.

The car has been apart so long i do not remember if it was like this when i got it.

no they're inside the engine. they keep the crank from walking back and forth. if the crank hasnt moved front and back, then its prlly just an alignment issue

edit- u wrote 7/8 of an ich? thats just about a whole inch, then i wouldthink its an alignmetn issue

Oh sorry I had my head in the gutter, duh.

No im pretty sure the crank hasnt moved, well im gonna go see if i can figure this crap out.

What did you change to have crank and or water pulley off ?

Im restoring the car and built a 347 stroker for it, it has been apart for over a year now as ive been working on it.

If you went to a 28oz balance from the stock 50oz
then the harmonic balancer is thinner.

I ran into this when I did my 351 swap, as they are 28oz balance also.

Ford Racing makes 3 different spacers to fix this.
I think this is what you need. Summit should sell them. Just make sure
you get the right thickness.

I did go to a 28oz balancer I was thinking the balancer was thinner but do not have my old one laying in the garage its in my building stored away.
