Oil Leak

I was lookin over my motor and I noticed An oil leak towards the rear of the block on the top just behind the manifold. It seems to be forming a small puddle behind the manifold on the block. It is a small puddle that collects on the block... could it be the manifold gasket or hopefully not the head gasket cuz it is a Coast High Performance 347 Street Fighter crate motor with less than 4000 miles on it.. What do you think?!

sorry I didn't solve your problem right away...I was just spit ballin...could be the intake manifold rear seal...you would have had to lay down the seal and RTV the corners so it did not leak

def sounds like it would be the lower intake end seals. Maybe they used some crappy cork gaskets. pull it and use some rtv on the end seals instead. But you probablly already knew that, good luck

Pack the shit back up in the crate

Doesn't it have a warranty? I would think they would pay for a reasonable repair, Have you contacted the place you bought it from?

dude I bought a full Street Fighter 347 motor from Coast High Performance. 2 keep a long story short this is my second motor. I had to remove the first 1 because the cam bolt snapped at 300miles and wrecked the motor. This motor seems to run fine except for a few little things.ie... oil leak ect...

So, why did you get another one? Having two mess up in under 10,000 miles = not good!!!

Easy there Tony Coast High Performance makes one of the best 347 stroker motor in the biz. The motor runs great Just ran a 7.008 in the 1/8 mile with slicks. That computes from a 10.92-11.04 in the quarter. and thats all motor, before I put my 150 shot on. Thats why I got another one!!! :award

okay thats cool. I dont mean to argue but are there other companies that make 347 motors with that potential? SOunds like a great motor, but a bolt snapping and wrecking the whole motor and now this.... I just looked at these motors and they are great, but seems like you have problems with them. maybe its just you, LOL, just playin man, good luck with this and the next motor you get!

I know there are several companies that make the 347 but CHP or Probe industries "same company" Make there own pistons where the oil ring does not intersect the wrist pin where other companies the oil ring intersects the pin causing oil usage and long term reliability issues. I think the bad motor I got was just a fluke. Every company makes a mistake and it just so happened it was on my motor. Coast High Performance made good on the defect and sent me a new motor no questions asked. I would do busniess with them again and also would recommend them to others...

yeah, nobody is perfect. Sounds like good customer service too. When i consider buying a crate motor, I will look into buying one from CHP, but right now I am a college student. I am just gonna buy a 347 stroker kit. I was just messin with you man, glad you got another motor. hopefully this leak is just a minor problem and an easy fix so you can tear up the streets again.

Let me give you the combo I bought from and then some on my 1993 LX NotchBack it has a CHP 347 Street Fighter kit stud girdle windage tray AFR 185 heads CHP Spyder intake 42lb injectors MSD Billet dist. Nology Hot wires High flow Billit fuel rails Russell braided lones and fittings, Aeromotive feual regulator. Anderson ford inline fuel pump+ 255lph intank BBK 80mm TB Anderson Ford 4 inch PowerPipe 75mm Pro-M mass air meter BBK long tube headers Anderson Ford Motorsport PMS-Winde band o2 6AL MSD box MSD Blaster coil High flow water pump Ford SVT aluminum radiator , electric fan Tremac 3550 trans with a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter, Ford Racing Aluminum driveshaft PowerTrax locker with 31 spline axles 5-lug front and rear of course Dugan Racing upper & lower rear control arms. Eibach Drag -Launch springs with airbag in rear in front I have a AJE cro-moly K-member with control arms with a coil-over kit that rides on fully adjustable Strange fromt stuts & rear shocks and MAC sub-frame connectors. I just bought a Competition Engineering 10pt. roll cage that I will be installing in the winter before next season for sure.I also have an Optima trunk mounted battery. I think I must of missed a few things but...oh well...Anyway it is not a daily driver but I dont see any reason why it could not be from the reasearch I have done their motors seem to be very reliable. My issue I think was far in few in between CHP told me that my motor was the first one to be returned in the last 1800 orders. Oh well shit happens... But in the end my car so far with slicks has run a 7.008 in the eight mile and if you do the math that converts anywhere from a 10.92- 11.04. Now if i can get the launches down I think I can do it. This week end was my first time with slicks. Winter is coming so next season I will work on that and when I get it down pat I will be puttin in a 100hp wet kit at least maybe a 150hp we will see.... Anyway that is what I got.. Decide 4 yourself!!!!
