keep it 5.0 and buy a B&G turbo kit = stock motor with there kit 420hp (under 3 grand)
ive heard 347 dont last, and 331 is the best overall (ive heard) if your going for 500hp range dont use stock block...(id rather be safer and use an aftermarket block) stock 5.0 arnt the strongest.. 500hp(or more)= crack, high revs= crack lots of boost = crack

for anything semi serious and above, just FORGET about a production ford block. Set aside 2200 for an aftermarket block

again, pretend that info was never said to you. The 347's have no problems lasting, its all how you build it and beat on it.

351 ftw. holds more power. you could make 500hp easily with a windsor thats been stroked. if you got the budget do it big.

build a good 418 with some afr205's and a good healthy roller cam and you would be surprised what power and how killer a torque curve it will produce

You guys are still trying to give this guy info? This thread is almost a year old. I will go ahead and say +1 with darrell on the main girdle Woody made the same comment. And please educate us why the 347 will not last and the 331 is the best motor overall? At least you put " I have heard" after the comment. I am currently going back to work on my stroker project and I have about 10 grand in parts alone without labor and without machine work. That is just the motor and transmission, I still have to do suspension, drag radials, and probably a cage. We are shooting for about 450 to the wheels. If this guy is still around my only advice would be talk to woody about a stroker setup, and talk to jay allen about a cam. And once again I hold you Darrell highly responsible for the money I have put into this build.
LOL

![]() And this folks is how internet rumors get started. A 351W will make 500hp easily without being stroked.
