Alright. What im pretty sure im going with now is a built 347 low compression engine with a vortech super charger. Tremec T-5 transmission with some upgraded suspension to make use of street tires and drag radials.

With this setup, if done right i should be well over 500hp, im thinking into the 600 range if tuned properly and still run off pump gas, have a/c and power steering.

Now that i have the basic setup figured out, i will look into more details of the heads, cam, intake, exhuast and all that good stuff to go with it

Ryan runs a stock T5 with over 500hp at the wheels. He is a crazy mofo.

i love some of these comparisons. Someone who uses a 5 speed is now a fast and the furious driver, wow. Dont have something nice to say, then leave it out of this topic. Looking for help not critism. Read through every page in this, theres been people recommending tremec quite a few times in this topic

Or TKO-500 or a 3550. In reality they are all about the same strength because by the time you make enough horsepower to break one of them you are going to be running into issues shifting it without getting it proshifted.

you want a strong peice go with stock block and 4 bolt main and your not gonna be able to hurt it i have a bone stock block .030 over n/a 331 400hp motor reving 6800 and its doing amazing went back in for a ring issue used oil (builded forgot a oil control ring on a pistion so the oil rings wearnt tight enough) and everything looked brand new after a year

the 5.0 block are very strong. you will be fine jus machining it.

Putting a 4 bolt main kit on a production roller block is not going to make the block handle anymore horsepower. Just like a main girdle is not going to help the block handle any more horsepower. It will help cap walk though which might indirectly help the block stay together longer but will not prevent it from splitting down the middle. 400hp and 6800 rpm is not pushing it too hard. I had a 347 that made just over 400hp to the tire for several years. I shifted it around 7600 and it lasted several years. Its actually still together, I just sold it a few months ago. Before I'd stick money into a 4 bolt main kit and machine work on a roller block, I'd get a 1979 or older block. They are much beefier thru the mid section and hold more power.
