69 camaro 305

My buddy has a 69 camaro SS with a 305 in it. I know its still 305 cubes, it has a mild h/c/i combo. Maybe not even heads.. Where are dyno numbers for these cars? what is the average? how much do they weigh?

Are you sure its not a 307? Are you sure its and SS? I don't believe the SS cars came with the 307 either. Chevy didn't make a 305 until the mid 70s. The car weighs in the 3800 pound area.

Ahhhhh. I see. I have no idea on power numbers. Probably not much. The 305 is not known for its horsepower potential due to its small bore size.

well okay.. if you had to put 20 dollars down on a 69 camaro with a 305 mild HCI versus a mustang gt 1988 with full bolt ons and e 303 cam what would you do?

haha mustang all the way, my buddy has a 72 nova that used to have a fairly built 350 and i left him like there was no tommorrow in my 78

to tell you the truth, i have never seen 305 that made enough power to get out of the way.

Speaking of horsepower numbers, Darrell. Do you know by chance what the 03-04 Cobra bhp is? I'm planning to build a 302 in the 400hp range and wanted to be close to the Cobra's hp at the rear wheels, cuz I know my tranny will take more power away from the engine than the manuals in the Cobra. Heres the list.

Heads- World Windsor Sr.
Cam- Crane Solid Roller
Intake Manifold- Edelbrock Victor Jr.
Lifters- Crane Solid Roller
Pushrods-Crane
Valve Springs- Crane Dual
Roller Rockers- Harland Sharp 1.6:1 (7/16" stud mount)
Bearings- Clevite 77.... Main, Rod, Cam Bearings
Pistons- Keith Black 281
Piston Rings- Hasting Powerflex
Main Studs- ARP
Head Bolts- ARP
Rod Bolts- ARP Wave lock
Oil Pump- Melling 68HV
Oil Pump shaft- Ford Racing
Oil pickup/Screen- Clevite
Windage tray- Ford Racing
Timing Chain-Cloyes True Roller
Distributor- 1985 DuraSpark (metal gears)
Harmonic Balancer- Fluidampr (50 oz)
Water pump- CSR
Ignition- MSD 6AL
Spark plugs- Motorcraft
Headers- Hooker Super Comp 1 5/8"- 3" collector
Flywheel- 50 oz
X-Pipe
Mufflers- Flowmasters Super 44

Now I know alot of the stuff I listed isn't hp, but just wanted to see if you know of anything better to use or if all of it's a good combo. I really dont want to go with a carburetor, but if I have to it would be the holley double pumper 750. The compression ratio would be at 9.4:1. Is that low enough to run a KB in the future? If not what pistons would you recommend.

I don't know for sure but I've heard they are more than advertised by Ford. A friend of mine has one and it made 340 and some change at the wheels bone stock off the showroom floor.

i believe the 03-04 cobras were rated at 390hp from the factory, but it is said that 425hp is a more realistic number, and 380ish rear wheel horsepower is common from the factory
