cold air intake

i Have racked my brains and searched a lot on these forums for answers. I have a 1988 gt with a maf conversion, and a 73mm c&l meter. It has a crappy in engine bay cold air intake, which really is a still Scorching hot air intake. I heard if i get a bbk cold air intake, it wont work due to turbulance or something. Would getting the stock air box be better than what i have? when you open the hood the intake is literally scorching hot after it has been running, definitely not cool.

BBK will be fine for what you have, almost all CAI's will give you turbulence depending on how close the elbow is to the MAF, but in your case it won't make any noticeable difference in a negative way. You will notice more of a gain from the cold air in your CC's than you will notice anything else.

just go down to pep boys like i did and buy a 90 degree pipe and hook it in after your MAF and a short filter and it will run right into your fender for all of about 40 bucks

+1 I had a CAI with C&L before the procharger. It actually drives much better with the procharger piping which relocates the MAF to the inner fender and has about 12" of straight pipe in front of the MAF.

For a similar setup consider the anderson power pipes.

i was gonna say the anderson powerpipe but its expensive for the gain you get from it.

it seems like in most cases you proly spend about 10-15 per horsepower you gain
