please help with electrical problems
ok, so my air bag light on my 90 fox 5.0 started flashing this week. then yesterday when i tried to start it and turned the key nothing happened like no juice. then it started soon after. now when it starts, this patterned beeping sound is coming from the console area behind heat/cool control area. it beeps 5 beeps in a row then repeats that for a little while. then it may stop and start again, but today it actually was getting erratic like there is a short or something. can any of these problems be connected or what? the main issue is the beeping sound, it is not coming from the radio or any speakers, its in the cars interior in the dash or something. someone please say they have heard of this. anybody help, the dealer wants 99.00 an hour to look at it.

I'm not even going to pretend like I know what you have going on there, but I would start with the basics, check your battery voltage and make sure your grounds are clean and properly connected. Sometimes a weak ground will cause all kinds of funny things to happen. The car not starting and the beeps/airbag light can only be connected through one way, poor voltage/weak ground. If thats not the case, you have multiple problems.

Yea start with the ground from the battery to the frame, and re-do the block to the frame while you're at it. Also check the voltage with a multimeter across the two leads of the battery. With the engine off you should read roughly 12v. Then leave the positive lead of the meter on the battery and check various metal parts within reach of the ground lead of the meter and see if you get the same voltage, if there is a difference, you have a poor ground. I use wire brushes to strip the metal bare and then make the ground connection and then paint with rustproof paint so it doesn't rust. Be sure to clean up the connections right at the battery terminals too.
