on the 3650 and t45(IIRC) there is a filler plug on the tranny and you are supposed to fill untill it drips out (according to the haynes manual, hopefully that helps on your transmision too

I've heard that you can fill it through the shifter (taking it off of course, but you know what i mean).

you can you can do that also, but you have to take off the trim piece, the rubber boot, the shifter, clean the silicone off, fill it, re apply silicone, put the rubber boot back on, and put the trim on, and keep track of how much you put in, its convient if your putting a new shifter in but i would probably just use the fill plug on the tranny

man why dont u just pm me for these questions? lol

i told u 3 quarts you can fill it from the shifter housing or from the fill plug (the top 3/8" dirve ratchet plug) just make sure u put a smalll bead of silicone around the shifter housing when u put the shifter on.

So, I always leave the fill plug out when I am filling it. I am not good at counting, plus I buy my DexIII by the gallon...

BTW, make sure the driveshaft is in before you fill it.

ya if u have fluid in it then pull the plug out but since he didnt have any at all its exactly 3 quarts so he should just count it and leave it in if he is on an uneven surface then it might prematurely come out of the hole.

Instead of taking shifter off ....................

It's MUCH easier to simple run a clear plastic tube from home depot
down thru the engine bay to the top fill plug.

Stick hose in hole and fill from engine bay.

Remove hose and reinstall plug.

No mess and a LOT easier than taking your center console apart.

Easier than that is to get the 1 qt squeezy bottles and a 8-12" length of 3/8" fuel hose. Push the hose over the end of the squeezy bottle and put the other end in the fill plug and squeeze.

thanks guys but the trans is going in so i think ill just fill it through the shifter since the console is already torn apart and there is no shifter on it yet. thanks for the heads up on the drive shaft, ill put that in first. i definitely would have poured it all over the floor had i not known that. some leakage is normal even if i have the driveshaft in and on level ground???

easier then all of that is just to fill it before he puts it in cause i am pretty sure i put a shipping plug in it so it wont pour out the back and all he has to do is slide the yolk on when its in there and no fluid will leak out
