i bought the car with the cam already installed, and i don't think i have valve float because today i cleaned everything up real nice on the intake and took her for a spin, she was still boggin, i unplugged the MAF sensor and took her down the road and she screamed like a car should. no bogging, it's definitely the MAF sensor.

it is a k&n, but it was really dry, to the point where i made sure to wash it and re oil it today because i was scared of dirt getting through. i put on just enough oil to turn the filter a little red, i didn't drench it. should i still be worried and buy a new filter?

I was just thinking you might be contaminating the MAF sensor with oil from the filter or too much dirt. But if that is not the case, try a new MAF.

That doesn't mean the MAF is bad. The computer goes into a limp mode when you do that. Although it is possible that your MAF is bad, that is not the way to test it. Unplugging sensors is not a way to isolate problems. If anything it will probably point you in the wrong direction.

Good question, I'm not sure. I know the 90 mm lightning MAFs require a chip burn to work, but they are pretty nice overall.

i know this thread is old, but i stumbled across it and thought i would share with you guys what the problem was.

pin 46 (i think) on the computer, the circuit was fried.
soldered a jumper wire on and it fixed it.

couple of months ago i made it back to the track and ran a best of 13.4 at 99.77 mph
1/8 mile was 8.4

the reason why my 1/4 is slow compared to my 1/8 mile is because the 4th gear synchronizer is toast, couldnt get it in granny shifting even, so i lowered the shift point to 4300 from 3rd to 4th and it went in and ran the 13.4
when i fix the transmission i should be able to see 13.1s/13.2s with no other changes

update...
ran a bunch of 12.9s the other night...

bypassed the power steering tonight and ran a 12.8 at 103 mph

60' was 1.67, the track was cold...
1/8 was 8.15 i think
it was 60 footing a little better than that the other night, but the track was too cold tonight...

the 12.8 pass was the only pass where i didn't light my tires up on the launch...

with suspension and moving the battery to the back i hope to 60' in the low 1.5 range (if possible) and run 12.7s

it is a stock cam, the car had so many problems before that it didn't sound anywhere near stock...
bad grounds causing a misfire is one...
pin 46 is a ground for some sensors that was burnt up...
i dont know why they did a MAF conversion on this car with a stock cam...

and with my hot air intake and stock motor i dont think its doing too bad...
