Electrical Problem
i just got my 88 5.0 back together from changing the head gaskets it started right up first time and i adjusted the timing the beast i could and was on my way. the next day it was struggling to start then a couple days later(today) i got a timing light to do the timing right but the after adjusting the distributer it didnt have any juice to crank it over so we jumped it and it started right up drove for a soild 20min thinkin the alternator would charge it right up and went home turn it off let it sit for a minute then turned the key it cranked but had no juice. jumped it again let it idle for a while then 15 min of idling the rpm dropped so i revved it up and it was fine . shut it off after 25min of idling then tried to start it and yet again cranked but not enough to start it.... any ideas

Sounds like the Alt. isn't charging. Check the Grounds on the back of the Head and make sure they are connected. Considering the Heads were just off.
Also make sure all the wires are connected goot to the Alt.

Usually about 30 minutes to 1 hour of driving.
Is it charging now? It would be better to charge with a battery charger if you can find one.

battery may justbe going bad and wont hold charge long after shutdown. need to load test batt and alternator..if all ok, disconnect ground at battery and put a test light between the batt post and cable, if it lights up bright, then something is drawing too much voltage

an alternator can put out 12 volts, but when its rated for say 100 amps, and its only putting out 60 amps...the battery never gets enough of a charge to last. Alternators that put out less than 15% of their rating are considered bad and need to be repaired or replaced

sounds like typical ground or loose wire issues...

i didnt clean that bolt or wire and i got in it 2day and it started right up (so excited i stalled it lol) so im wilin to bet it was just that orange wire that wasnt grounded to the head. also i notice a squeal or or squeak under high rpms could that be the serpentine belt. im running the 84.5 belt eliminating the smog pump
